Has anyone else seen the plans for Federal St. in the window of SVE Associates? That's the place between the Garden Cinemas and the Chamber of Commerce.

They took out most of the on-street parking!

Morons.

I've already been in touch w/my fave celeb (see fave bands/music artists) for almost 8 years now & have been to Europe to hang out w/him for 5 days & have open invitation to return someday (I hope to take up the offer again soon). I would rather return to BEAUTIFUL Norway anyday, anytime, than bring anyone to these shores. Europe is really fantastic. After being shown the forests, mountains, & fjørds of Norway, I would have to say I'd head straight for the Green Mts of VT or the White Mts of NH rather than stick around G:field if I had to play host!

Imagine you have the opportunity to give your favorite celebrity a tour of Greenfield.
1. Who is the celebrity? (post a pic of them if possible) See below.
2. You only have time to take them 5 places in town. Where do you take them? (If you'd like to, you can tell us why you chose those places) Within city limits: 1.Poet Seat Tower 2.Scenic Lookout on Mohawk Trail 3.Covered Bridge @ Pumping Station 3.Bear's Den/Sachem's Head 4.Main Street 5.Peoples Pint (for a brew or two)
3. What is your mode of transportation to these places? Vehicle & foot where necessary.
4. The celebrity has worked up an appetite during the tour. Where do you bring them for lunch? 1st choice: Pete's Fish Market. 2nd choice: the Wok. They need help deciding what to order. What is a dish you'd recommend? 1.Clam strip boat or haddock boat 2.PuPu Platter w/extra crab rangoon & chicken wings, plus General Tso's chicken.
5. If time had not been an issue, is there any place in town you wouldn't show to the celebrity? If yes, where? General neighbourhood/street tours...too mundane. I've seen European villages & only Shelburne Falls can compare at all. Larger towns & cities just can't compare.

Name: Dennis (at least that's what it says on my license)
Gender: male
Age: 30-something :)
5 favorite bands/music artists: #1--TNT (ANYTHING feat. Norwegian guitar wizard Ronni LeTekrø), then (in no particular order): the Tea Party; Ayreon (+ anything feat. Dutch guitarist Arjen Lucassen, i.e. Star One, Ambeon, Stream Of Passion, etc.); Shawn Lane; John McLaughlin (Mahavishnu Orchestra, Shakti)
4 favorite movies: "What About Bob?," "Monty Python & the Holy Grail," "50 First Dates," "Ever After" (I like comedy)
3 favorite tv shows: "Monty Python's Flying Circus," "Seinfeld," "Monk" (don't watch a lot of tv, so this one was tough)
2 of your favorite foods: cajun catfish (Bub's BBQ in Sunderland) & chicken tikka masala (India Palace in Brattleboro)
what's your favorite thing about greenfield?: It's on the borders of 3 states & centrally located near everything; just to the south is NoHo, Amherst, Springfield, Hartford, etc. for city attractions & just to the north is the great outdoors of VT & NH (hiking, biking, kayaking, swimming, camping, etc.). Towns like Bratt, NoHo, & Keene are a very short drive. My only complaints are G:field needs more ethnically diverse restaurants & a better music scene (then again, I think the European music scene blows away the US scene!). But G:field is ideally located w/o feeling too metro or urban. Even Boston, Providence, Albany, etc. are considerably close. Route 2 & I-91 are at a junction right here & rte. 9 & the Mass Tpke are just to the south, so you have access to just about anywhere.

Anywho, after much thought I decided to join this community anyway (bit older than all of you!) because I've grown up around G-town area & lived here just about all my life (besides Springfield, Hartford, Boston area, Los Angeles, & Oregon for short stints--I'm always drawn back here!).
